The limitation page is ink-stamped 148 with the autograph signature of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of "the Mammals of South Africa" Book Fund. Laid in is a compliments card of the Trustees of "The Mammals of South Africa" Book Fund, also in-stamped "148" and requesting acknowledgement of safe receipt of the volume. This is the final publication of Dr. Austin Roberts (1883-1948), following The Birds of South Africa was published from the original manuscript of Dr. Austin Roberts after his death, with the correction of minor errors done by an Editorial Sub-committee, which included Dr. V. FitzSimons, the well-known herpetologist. With a foreword by Lt.-Col. J. Stevenson-Hamilton, noted wildlife conservationist.
