Rare brochure promoting the sale of land in Montgomery County, Texas, by this Minnesota real estate company, with emphasis on the agricultural advantages of the region. The Montgomery Land Co. had "Wild and Improved Land throughout Minnesota, North Dakota, Wisconsin, Iowa and Colorado for sale or exchange for other property." Texas had special benefits, however, then as now, when it came to taxes, as stated on the inside of the rear wrapper, "The taxes on a ten acre truck farm in Montgomery County and a town lot in Fountain City, Texas will cost you 75 cents. Texas has the cheapest tax of any state in the union." As further incentive, when you purchase that ten-acre truck farm, for $300, you get the townsite in Fountain City (a city which may or may not have ever existed), for free.
