2 vol. in 1. 203, [3], 195 pp. (12mo) 13.5x8.5 cm (5¼x3¼"), full speckled calf, black morocco spine label, spine titled and tooled in gilt.

Account of travels to China by Giovanni Battista Gherardini, an Italian painter who later settled in France. While painting a Jesuit church, he was invited to travel to China, which he did in 1698. While in the country, he painted frescos in a French Jesuit mission built in the Forbidden City before returning to France in 1705.

Invoices are sent out the day following the auction and include a minimum $10 handling fee plus actual shipping and insurance charges.
