Account of travels to China by Giovanni Battista Gherardini, an Italian painter who later settled in France. While painting a Jesuit church, he was invited to travel to China, which he did in 1698. While in the country, he painted frescos in a French Jesuit mission built in the Forbidden City before returning to France in 1705.
