Narrative from Scottish naval officer famous for traveling on foot (nicknamed the "Pedestrian Traveler"). Cochrane notes that he rode as well as walked, but this journey was novel because of how much land he was able to traverse on foot. It covers his journeys across Russia & Siberia via Irkutsk, Yakutsk & Nizneokolymusk. There he met Baron Wrangell who was starting his Kolmya River Expedition. Before sailing from Kamchatka he wed a local woman who accompanied him back to London. Bookplate of previous owner on old endpapers, missing half-title.
