2 volumes. Illustrated with 12 hand-colored plates. (4to) 23.3x17.7 cm (9x7"), quarter black morocco with blue morocco spine label titled in gilt, with blue cloth boards decoratively stamped in gilt, top edge gilt.

The work is "a survey of the sports and pastimes, tea gardens and parks, playhouses and other diversions of the people of London from the 17th to the beginning of the 19th century". Includes descriptions and illustrations of Vauxhall Gardens, Southwark Fair, duck-hunting, bull-baiting, bear-baiting, hazards, etc.

Rebacked, slight rubbing to extremities; front hinge cracked, all hinges show signs of repair, loose tissue guard in vol. 1, page toning and small tears; overall about very good.
