Broadside proclaiming that “The Daily Globe” will succeed the [New York] “Sun”, which was destined to become an instrument of the “Radical politicians.” It reads in part: “This day (January 6th) ‘The Sun’ passes into the hands of a joint stock company of Radical politicians. In a few days it will be transformed into a partisan journal, advocating Negro supremacy in the South, Negro equality in the North, and supporting all the extreme measures of the Radical Party. The ‘good-will’ of ‘the Sun’ - meaning its power for political purposes - was sold for $200,000, and, in return for that outlay, the Radical millionaire politicians who bought it, expecting to make puppets of the workingmen of New York, to dance as the Radicalized ‘Sun’ shall pull the string... The Daily Globe appears this morning as the legitimate successor of the old “Sun.” It is the production of the Old Editors of the Sun, Old Reporters of the Sun, Old Compositors of the Sun.”
