"Elizabeth Catlett is a Black woman, sculptor and print-maker, who lives and works in Mexico. Her works have been exhibited throughout Mexico and the United States, as well as in such cities as Paris, Berlin, Moscow, Peking, Prague, Dresden, Tokio and Havana. The prints in this portfolio represent her lithographs over a period of years - from 1958 to 1972. Born and educated in Washington, D.C., she has been teaching sculpture in the National University of Mexico for the past 15 years." -back of portfolio folder.
