The ninth text volume in Curtis' monumental work on the Indians of North American, with came to number twenty text volumes, each with an accompanying portfolio of large photogravure plates, and took over twenty years to produce. Although 500 sets were produced, only about half of those were bound. The present volume covers native Americans from the Pacific northwest, including the Salishan tribes of the coast, the Chimakum and the Quilliute, and the Willapa. With bookplate of the James S. Copley, University of San Diego, on the front free endpaper, along with donation slip of Dr. Janet Settle Gilman; Gilman bookplate on front pastedown.
