Collection of over 55 photographs, plus 1 post card and 1 clipping. The majority of the photographs measure 5x7" or 8x10". Some of the photographs are signed by Moulin in the negative, some are retouched by hand for publication in the newspaper, some have typewritten captions on verso, two have newspaper clippings pasted to verso.

A nice archive on the Portola Festival of 1909 which was held to celebrate the rebuilding of San Francisco after the 1906 earthquake and fire, and to celebrate the 140th anniversary of the discovery of San Francisco Bay by Gaspar de Portola. The city was transformed for the festival, and this archive captures some of that decoration (such as electric lights strung from major buildings). Some of the photographs are signed Moulin and are the work bo Gabriel Moulin (1872-1945), first of three generations of San Francisco photographers. Among the images are many street scenes (including duplicates), such as floats, bands, and revelers. Also one photograph of the sculpture "God of Sunshine" with its creator/sculptor Haig Patigian standing beside it.
