Typed Letter, signed. 11x8½". With original envelope. Signed 'Buk' at close.

A significant letter in which Bukowski thanks the Webbs for giving the "o.k. for [John] Martin to do next book." This permission would mark the start of the long relationship between Bukowski and Martin's Black Sparrow Press. The letter also praises the Webbs' periodical 'The Outsider' and, as typical, Bukowski complains about his life. He also mentions that Syracuse University want to start a "'Bukowski Papers' section, for the benefit of 'scholars'."

Condition:

Envelope roughly opened; letter creased from mailing; fine.
