Description:
56 pp. Folding map. (8vo), modern green cloth, original front wrapper bound in. Second Edition. Scarce pamphlet first published in the Oregonian, by one of the notable pioneer missionaries who came to Oregon in 1848. In it are discussed land grants to the Northern Pacific, Central Pacific and California and Oregon railroads; the author insists that the natural route for a North-Pacific railroad is down the Valley of the Columbia. The folding map (loose in this copy) details western Oregon in the top half, and the United States, showing railroad routes, in the bottom half. It is trimmed close at lower neat line (as usual). Howes A368; Smith 345.
