| Three volumes in one. [iv], 924; 887; 520 pp. (8vo) 7¼x4½, approx. 4½" thick, early calf with later morocco rebacking. First complete Bible printed in Hawaii. |
| The very rare first complete Bible published in the Hawaiian Islands, printed entirely by the Mission Press. Some portions had been published as early as 1829; the N.T. was completed in 1832; the O.T. not until February 1839. Some copies of the N.T. are dated 1835; some lack the date at the end of the O.T. A team of eight men, working directly from the Hebrew and the Greek, completed the translation, utilizing the most intelligent of the natives to arrive at a correct interpretation of the more difficult passages. |

| Board edges rubbed, rear cover nearly detached, the massive page block split entirely in 2 pieces near the center; worming throughout, inoffensive in most cases but with some more extensive worming near the center resulting in some loss of text, two leaves torn and detached; scarce and worthy of restoration. |
