Description:
xvi, 658 pp. Introductory Essay by Herbert Warren Wind. Illustrated with small photos from book & title covers. 8vo. Green cloth, lettered in gilt, jacket. First Trade Edition. Rare "Counterfit" Issue, printed for Richard Donovan & Joe Murdoch and rejected because of defects. Appearently the printer sold the production without authority. This copy is the true first edition. The error was in the binding of the first folio which did not 'catch' on the binder and thus appeared crooked.
With post-it note to front free endpaper containing autographed information about this particular issue, signed with Charlie H. Yaws initials. Formerly in the Charlie Yaws collection, he was the first Adminstrator and a Director at the U.S. Golf Collectors Society.
Condition:
Minor nicks and light creases to jacket spine ends & corners, else fine in about fine jacket.
