Description:
2 vols. [12], [blank], 303, 195, 339, 259 (misnumbered 263), 335; [18], 1091 pp. (Several errors in pagination but text continuous and complete). Vol. I with elaborate woodcut title-page. In both volumes each book has its own title page. Books paged separately in first volume and continuously in the second volume. (Folio) 14¾x9, modern full calf, raised bands, morocco lettering pieces.
Handsomely printed Polyglot Bible in twelve languages. Known as Hutter's or the Nuremberg Polyglot. Texts arranged in 6 columns across facing pages with 2 languages per column, including the Hebrew printed with Hutter's unique font of black and hollow letters. Dibdin called this book "one of the rarest items in bibliography." Darlow & Moule 1430.
Condition:
Some fraying to title leaf and last leaf of both volumes; minor aging to contents, but very good or better.
