a12, A-L8, M6. xxiv, 187 (including errata). With woodcut initials and ornaments, 4 folding engraved plates on full aprons. (8vo) 8¼x5¼, period half-sheep with decorated paper boards, spine gilt with morocco lettering-piece. First Edition.
A scarce treatise by the famous Jesuit astronomer and natural philosopher. A promoter of Newton's gravitational work, Boscovich's plates depict his calculations of the motion of Jupiter and Saturn. With an inkstamp and a few inconspicuous, marginal blindstamps from Stanford University Library.
Condition:
Some scuffing to extremities; scattered very pale foxing, nevertheless a very handsome copy.
