2 volumes. 188; 223 pp. 7x4¼, original green printed wrappers. First Edition, First Issues.
First issue, with "Francs: 900" printed approximately ½ inch up from the bottom right side of the rear wrappers. It was later raised higher up. The true first edition of one of the most important and controversial novels of the twentieth century. It was rejected by American publishing houses until finally accepted by the avant-garde Paris publisher Olympia Press.
Condition:
A few short creases overall, occasional nicks; creases to Volume I spine and tiny dark spots to front endpapers; front hinge of Volume II tender; both clean and bright throughout; a very good or better set of this true first appearance. Scarce.
