Description:
10 leaves from type, on recto sides only, with some holographic corrections by Burroughs in blue ink. Measures 10x8".
An early draft of a piece published in the July 1973 issue of Oui as “Face to Face with the Goat God,” Burroughs’ account of his visit with Brion Gysin to Joujouka to watch Bou Jeloud and the Master Musicians of Joujouka who were recording an album with Ornette Coleman. This typescript differs substantively from the published version. It includes some nice descriptions by Burroughs of life in Morocco and the proceedings of the festival in Joujouka. An important text as the Master Musicians and their magical approach to life, and art were a meaningful influence on Burroughs, Gysin, Brion Jones of the Rolling Stones and others. Includes a typed letter signed by James Musser of Skyline Books explaining this "is of impeccable provenance having come from Burroughs' own archive. The sale of this archive is described in Ted Morgan's book, Literary Outlaw. The ink corrections to the typescript are in Burroughs' hand."
Condition:
Original fold, else fine. A significant Burroughs manuscript item.
