463 pp. Illustrated with many wood engravings throughout the text, some full page, of fishing implements and techniques, etc. 8¾x6¼, publisher's gilt-decorated light blue-gray cloth, front cover lettered in black, spine lettered in gilt, new blue-gray endpapers. [One of 50 large paper copies].
Originally published in 1881. "This was the book that drew the attention of the world to this great fish" - Bruns H 148.
Condition:
Spine dulled, ends and corners a bit bumped, soiling, tiny stains; front hinge starting to crack, gift inscription dated 1900; still very good or better.
