Description:
Maroon cloth, spine lettered in gilt, color pictorial jacket. First Edition.
First edition in a first issue jacket with the Sinclair Lewis blurb on the back panel rather than the flap. Classic American novel, winner of the Pulitzer Prize, and basis for two film adaptation. Robert Penn Warren worked on the first film screenplay himself; the film won the Best Picture Oscar for 1949; the other version came out last year starring Sean Penn. Grimshaw A7.a1.
Condition:
Wear to jacket edges from previous protective cover, front flap trimmed a bit affecting some print, rear flap corners clipped, a few short chips and tears, old tape repairs to verso, other mild wear; fading to cloth spine, shelf wear; owner’s signature; else very good, jacket about very good, with cover art still nice.
