Rare battlefield map created in the fall of 1944, as Allied forces were encroaching on Germany, soon to be checked by the onslaught of Panzers during the Battle of the Bulge. Shown are the deployments in the northeastern portion of France, with particular reference to German positions, including extensive fortifications near Phalsbourg, ammunition dumps, fox holes, trenches, minefields and other military features. There are some explanatory notes on the map, e.g. "Most houses in western part of town dismantled and removed"; "Fox holes and fire trenches in this area"; "Firing bays every 100 ft."; "Camouflaged warehouses"; and "Bridge Out!"; etc. With legend at bottom, "Compiled by XV Corps P.I. Team" referring to the Photographic Interpreter Team.
