A rare silk broadside, printing the text of Jackson's first annual message to Congress, or State of the Union Address in five columns. The President discusses international affairs, primarily with Britain and France, the need for reform in the federal government, the assimilation of the indigenous nations, the westward expansion of the country, military matters, etc., etc. A very rare piece of Presidential Americana; OCLC locates no copies of this New York printing, though it does locate a Washington, D.C. printing on silk of a different design (text in 7 columns). A third printing on silk (text in 6 columns) appeared recently at auction but we can locate no other copies of the present silk broadside.
