Significant archive of vintage photographs once belonging to Alfred H. Brooks (1871-1924), who served as chief geologist for Alaska for the United States Geological Survey from 1903 to 1924. 21 of the photographs bear the verso rubberstamp of Merl La Voy, pioneer American documentary filmmaker, and record the 1910 Parker-Brown Expedition that attempted to conquer Mt. McKinley, in which he took part. Each of these photographs with an ink caption on the reverse. The other photographs include scenic views (some panoramic), mountains, geologic formations, glaciers, frozen tundra, and more.
