Millard Fillmore's copy with his signature on the front paste-down endpaper “Millard Fillmore July 6, 1859 $5.25”. On the title page Fillmore has penned the book’s location on his library shelf “G-3.” Pencil notations in Fillmore's hand in the margins: “Domestic gods” (p5), “Spirits of the defeated” (p7), drawn hand pointing to “Ariel” which he’s underlined (p109), hand pointing to reference to Zoroastrian religion about the third night after death writing “Why the 3d?” (p216), with bracketed paragraphs on many pages discussing different religions. Fillmore was a Unitarian.
