Exceptional copy of perhaps the greatest work devoted to the pyramids of Giza in Egypt, being the first scientific measurement and mapping of the Great Pyramid and its smaller neighbors. The magnificent plates show the pyramids and surrounding areas, the interior plans and details, etc. Quite rare in complete form with all three parts and all its plates: WordCat lists only two complete copies, at Cambridge University and the National Library of Sweden. Because of its large size, the book is quite fragile, and even incomplete copies are usually quite worn, with pages chipped and torn, which is not the case with the present copy. The three parts are: Pt.1. The Great Pyramid -- Pt.2. The second and third pyramids, the three smaller to the southward of the third and the three to the eastward of the Great Pyramid -- Pt.3. Some fading/soiling to cloth; foxing to some of the plates, mostly those in Part 2; still in nearly fine condition overall, possibly the best copy extant.
