Translated from the Greek by Isaac Littlebury. 2 volumes in 1. [2], xii, [2], 447, [1] blank, [15]; [2], 430, [blank leaf], [16] pp. (8vo) 6¾x4½, later half calf and marbled boards. First Edition in English.

The very rare first edition in English of the complete text of Herodotus' seminal Histories, printing all nine books; the even more rare 1584 edition contained only the first two books.

Condition:

Front joint split approximately half the length, extremities rubbed, hinges cracked, bookplate; light foxing; very good.
