26 lines, on pp. 1 & 3 of 4-page folio 12¾x7¾. Meshech Weare (1713-1786), farmer, lawyer, revolutionary leader and longtime political presence in New Hampshire, writes to the Senate and House of Representatives of the state, accepting their appointment of him as President of the state. This was no new honor, he had served in the office since 1776, but he was reappointed under the new state constitution adopted in 1784. Weare, eponym of the New Hampshire town, was, however, troubled that his state of health was so poor that he could not attend the legislative session in Concord.
