256 pp. Color and black and white photographs by the author, many full-page; engravings, native drawings and woodcuts throughout the text; two page map of Kenya. 11x8, grey cloth with gilt-stamped spine and cover, color pictorial jacket. First Edition.

Gift inscription and signature from author on front free enpaper, inscription includes doodle of an elephant's rear, dated 1975. Vivid photographs are accompanied by a span of historical events and Beard's personal recollections of his trips to Africa.

Condition:

1 cm tear top edge of dust jacket and very slight edgewear; else near fine.
