2 volumes. xi, 495; ix, 536 pp. Folding map in Volume 1. (8vo) 8½x5½, later full polished tan calf, spines gilt, morocco labels, all edges marbled. First English Edition.

Translated from the German by William Desborough Cooley. Erman's journey began in 1827 with the purpose of making scientific observations in Siberia. The author travelled from Berlin to Okhotsk and by sea to Kamchatka, returning home via San Francisco and South America. Sabin 22771.

Condition:

Spines sunned, some scuffing to leather, corners bumped, hinges cracked; else very good.
