Translated from the English edition of 1797. Nearchus was one of Alexander's principal officers. In 325 BC he was ordered to take Alexander's fleet to the head of the Persian Gulf, and to circumnavigate Arabia from the Euphrates to the Isthmus of Suez. Nearchus's narrative of his expedition was included by Arrian in his "Indica" written in 2nd Century A.D.

Condition:

Boards well worn, paper covering of vellum spine chipped; light foxing, dampstain in outer margin; else a very good copy with wide, untrimmed, margins.
