Basis for the classic 1958 film starring Paul Newman and Elizabeth Taylor. Contains the two key points of the first edition: there is no reference on the copyright page to a previous appearance of the preface in the N.Y. Times, and Joseph Mielziner's and Lucinda Ballard's names do not appear on p. xii.

Condition:

Short tears and chips to jacket edges, a few small creases; slight wear to cloth edges; about fine in a very good jacket.
