Played at historic St. Andrews Links ("The Home of Golf"), won by Hector Thomson of Scotland, 2 up, over the Australian Jim Ferrier. Before WW II, it was regarded as one of golf's major championships, but this is no longer the case. Surprisingly, considering the prestige the event still carries, only one Amateur Championship winner in the post-WW II era has gone on to win a major, José María Olazábal.
