Ventouillac (1796-1834) was Professor of French Language and Literature at King's College; wrote and edited many books on French literature and culture, most conspicuously perhaps the text for Pugin & Heath's handsomely-illustrated Paris and its environs (1829). This volume describes 1,250 works, with concise and useful comments. Berterman 2350. Contemporary bookplate of Samuel Beach Jones.

Condition:

Rubbing and light edge wear, spine label a bit worn; hinges cracking (more so to front plus small hole near top); occasional foxing, else good or better.
