Description:

With an essay concerning the Aitken Bible by Robert R. Dearden, Jr. and Douglas S. Watson. Tipped-in original leaf from the Aitken Bible; 10 facsimiles. 10¼x7, original morocco-backed blue paper boards, spine lettered in gilt and two raised bands. No. 454 of 580 total copies, of which 515 were produced for this, the Colonial Edition. Printed by Edwin and Robert Grabhorn.

Inscribed on front free endpaper by the publisher & bookseller John Howell: "To Chris, with congratulations from John. June 7, 1933." The original leaf from the important early American Bible within this copy is from the Book of Jonah and includes the Prophet's adventures within the Whale.

Condition:

Spine and lower edge of front cover faded, light edge wear, lacking slipcase; else near fine.
