2 volumes. xxv, [1], 428; xii, [2], 444 pp. Numerous wood-engraved plates & illustrations; several maps including large folding map in rear pocket. 9¼x6¼, original full calf, morocco labels on spines lettered in gilt, all edges marbled. First Edition.

With an Autograph Note, Signed from Greely, dated 1930 laid in. Greely was in charge of the U.S. expedition to establish a chain of 13 circumpolar stations, attaining the most northerly point reached up to that time. Arctic Bib. 6118.

Condition:

An ex-library copy with stamps on title pages and elsewhere, card pockets removed from rear endpapers; joints splitting and with evidence of old glue repair; else good.
