Basis for the classic 1958 film starring Paul Newman and Elizabeth Taylor. Contains the two key points of the first edition: there is no reference on the copyright page to a previous appearance of the preface in the N.Y. Times, and Joseph Mielziner's and Lucinda Ballard's names do not appear on p. [xii].

Condition:

Small chips and short tears with light creases to jacket edges; cloth spine a bit faded, slight lean, soiling, other mild wear; else very good, jacket about very good.
