Various sizes and paginations. All but two uniformly bound dark in green morocco and marbled boards, spines gilt with stylized art-nouveau floral ornaments, one volume in full brown morocco, one in green and brown morocco. Every book autographed and each with a warm personal inscription to Hugo Goehle. The inscriptions almost all relate to the content of the book inscribed and were apparently given by James to one who was a good friend. George Wharton James (1858-1923) was the prolific author of books on California and the Southwest. He was an early appreciator of Native American arts and crafts and a great booster of the West. He authored four titles in the beautifully produced "See America First" series.
