2 volumes bound in one, as issued. 252; 148 + [4] ad pp. Illustrated with wood engravings, including a frontispiece for each title. 7x5, original decoratively blind-stamped blue-green cloth, gilt-stamped vignette on spine, lettered in gilt. First Edition.

Scarce and early book on the legendary Western outlaws, Jesse and Frank James and their cohorts. Both compiled from reliable sources. Howes B933.

Condition:

Rubbing, edge wear, spine leaning, ends and corners a bit bumped; hinges and a 2¼" portion of rear joint carefully repaired, a few signatures off-centers (middle one loose but still attached), light foxing; signature of Clara & Schuyler Wheeler dated 1888; about very good.
