2 volumes. viii, 333; viii, 395 pp. 8vo. Original green cloth, spines lettered in gilt, brown endpapers. First Edition, BAL's "B" state.

With a two-page autograph letter signed by Francis Parkman, tipped-in, dated Boston, Dec. 9, 1878, addressed to a Mr. Stewart. Part of the France and England in North America series of historical Narratives. "B" state without the University Press imprints. BAL 15483. Bookplate of Alphonso Trumpbour Clearwater in each.

Condition:

Light wear overall; hinges cracking to Volume I; tear and a small chip to second page of letter (affecting some of the text), slight finger-soiling; volumes about fine; letter very good.
