Scarce reprint edition of the exceedingly rare text originally published in 1843 and arguably the the most important nineteenth-century history of Hawaii. The 1909 edition adds an index and a few organizational changes, though the text is largely unaltered. The frontispiece "Map of the Hawaiian Islands" is reduced from the Hawaiian Government survey map of 1900.
