Scarce narrative of the man who, among all of the seekers, was the first to find hard evidence of the fate of Arctic explorer Sir John Franklin, whose disappearance into the frozen north sparked one of the largest and most prolonged searches in the history of exploration. The many expeditions to uncover the riddle of Franklin's vanishing amidst the ice floes of the north, spurred by his indomitable widow, provided more information on the geography, geology and climate of the arctic regions than all those who came before.
