The fifteenth text volume in Curtis's monumental work on the Indians of North America, which came to number twenty text volumes, each with an accompanying portfolio of large photogravure plates, and took over twenty years to produce. Although 500 sets were produced, only about half of those were bound. The present volume covers Indians of Southern California Shoshoneans, the Luisenos, the Cahuilla, the Dieguenos, Plateau Shoshoneans, the Mono, the Paviotso, and the Washo. This is the issue printed on Van Gelder Zonen Holland paper.
