Highly regarded work in its time, which went into numerous editions; noteworth for the four maps by Thomas Kitchin, of Mexico including Baja California and the American southwest; the Caribbean; South America; and Peru with the surrounding regions. Books I-VIII, covering the discovery and Spanish conquest, were published in 1777; Books IX an X, covering the settlement of Virginia and New Englands, completing the work and publishd poshumously, are present here, bound after Book VIII.
