With 50 hand-colored albumen photographs, most captioned in the negative, each 7¾x10" mounted on thick card-stock, a few inked noted on margins. Oblong, 12x15½, pictorial lacquered wooden boards with floral designs on covers, a 7x10" hand-painted inset in middle front board, mostly colored gray and gilt with some darkening highlights with three ducks, white moiré endpapers, all edges gilt.
Mostly outdoor scenes, including: tea gardens, women tea ceremony and playing music, temples, “Lotus Flowers at Kamakura,” bridge in Takinogawa, Imaichi Road, Nikko, Chiuzenji Lake, Yokohama, “Daibutsu at Kamakura,” Miyanoshita, Hakone Lake, Nagoya Castle, Nagasaki, fabric dealers, Geishas, rickshaws, oyster and rice workers, etc.
Condition:
A bit worn but scarce. Covers detached, lacks spine; faint foxing; occasional nicks and slight fading to photos; internally very good, glossy covers; binding needs repair.
