Description:

Measures 12x16½". Signed "Birch" in the lower left corner.

Birch (1856-1943) is best know for his children’s book illustrations. He was the original artist for Little Lord Fauntleroy and The Secret Garden. His first appearances in print were in St. Nicholas (an illustrated magazine for children) in the 1880’s. Blue and black crayon notes and codes on verso, citing page numbers for the August 1901 St. Nicholas publication appearance. Includes a photocopy from the pages it appeared in St. Nicholas.

Condition:

Minor finger-soiling; else near fine.
