Purchase, Rights, and Royalties agreement between James M. Cain and Charter Publishing for Cain's two books, The Institute and Rainbow’s End. Signed by James M. Cain and the publisher of Charter Publishing Co., along two witnesses, with numerous paragraphs initialed in marginal rubberstamps by Cain, and with some of the contract stipulations struck in red. With a signed memo note from Cain’s manager appended with a paper clip.
