First edition, mixed issue. This copy has three of the color plates mounted and these without titles; according to Tooley the first issue had four mounted plates with titles. This apparently represents a later variation of the first issue, before all the mounted plates were replaced. "Considered by many to be the premier coloured plate sporting book in the 19th century, by others as sharing this honour with Jorrock's Jaunts" (Tooley). Bookplate of Lord Esme S. Gordon. Tooley 65.
