An unusual and rare Montreal imprint of a scarce and early account on the first Afghan War, including the author's involvement with the British Army's march on Kabul after its defeat earlier in the war. Wilton's story is preceded by a Subscriber's List comprising many British, Canadian, and Irish military men. Wilton served with the 40th Regiment under General Sir John Keane and later emigrated to Canada after retiring from the Army.
