Presentation copy inscribed to Franklin D. Roosevelt by both Suydam and Dobie, and with an original full-page drawing by Suydam inscribed to Roosevelt. The original drawing is on an inserted leaf before the half-title, and is of a Chinatown storefront in San Francisco, with inscription at the bottom, "To Franklin D. Roosevelt, with kind regards, E.H. Suydam, San Francisco, 1933." On the half-title, Suydam has written in ink, "To Franklin D. Roosevelt, with sincere appreciation and with all good wishes, E.H. Suydam, San Francisco, 10 December, 1933," and Dobie has added, "with the hope that this will give, at least, a bird's eye view of one of the country's vital cities. Loyally yours, Charles Caldwell Dobie, San Francisco, Debember 10, 1933."
