The earliest issue contains an annual report on the Sandwich Islands (Hawaii), including bibliographic information concerning books published in Hawaii by the Mission press; plus reports from Ceylon, Siam, Constantinople, and an article titled "Sioux: Journal of a Tour to the Missouri River." Plus, four other issues with reports from the Sandwich Islands, including Education, conditions of the people, Mission updates, "The Future of the Islands," etc. The January 1859 and 1860 issues with reports on the North American Indians, including the Choctaws, Cherokees, Dakotas, Ojibwas, Senecas, Tuscaroras and Abenaquis. Other issues contain reports from around the world, including: India, Syria, Armenia, Assyria, Asia, Shanghai, Micronesia, Europe, etc.
Condition:
The 1841 issue with tears and chips to somewhat loose covers, rest with mild edge wear and soiling, two with dampstaining; early previous owner's signature on the top front cover margin of each; else very good overall.
