Description:

With 144 albumen (or some silver-print) photographs mounted on 36 thick-stock leaves. Most measure 7½x10" and are captioned in the negative. (Folio) 17¾x12½, half calf and cloth, hinges reinforced with cloth.

Large Italian “Grand Tour” photograph album, showing various ancient sites, ruins, buildings (interior and exterior), monuments, paintings, sculpture, etc. Images largely taken in Pompeii and Rome with several photographs attributed to Georgio Sommer.

Condition:

Lacks leather spine, inner cloth still present, chips and scuffs to leather; tiny chips to leaf edges, some fading and other light wear to photos, bookplate from W.K. Bixby, else very good or better in a good to very good binding.
